Game delayed till ???


Hi there!

I had a semi pleasant time away from work while in Texas. Made some good money at San Japan too! It was only disrupted by some family drama that made it difficult to enjoy it to the fullest. This isn't really the place for me to vent about all that but just know I came back home to Florida relaxed enough to get back to work.

… however the day I was ready to do so my PC tower blue screened and any measures i took to fix it myself were unfruitful so I had no choice but to take it to get repaired. It totaled to about a little over $200 (plus an extra $50 to buy a storage ssd to back up my files) but I'm very grateful a few generous souls were kind enough to donate to my kofi so I could get it repaired ASAP. It'll be 3-4 days before it's expected to be done though so I just have to sit around and wait.

For now I can borrow my partner's PC while they're at work to do work. Thankfully I had the game's script and all of its assets backed up on an ssd before the con+vacation. I had originally planned to work on Repurpose a bit with the laptop we share but never got around to doing that. I could use this laptop to work but it's pretty slow and can't even handle opening a google doc with 10+ pages lol.

Ughhh… it's just been a stressful time on top of other stuff that is and isn't related to game development.

Which brings me to my next point of bad news.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to delay the game once more.

 How long? Well, since this is going to be a public game dev log I feel it's necessary to at least include what has been completed so people won't assume the worst right off the bat when I give the "date".

As it currently stands I would say Repurpose Part 1 is 80% complete! For those unaware the game has been split into two parts. Part 1 containing the, what I like to call, "Main 6" (and optional Irene) routes and Part 2 containing Fayebael and Cherubim. As it stands here are the states of the current routes.

Assets- Sprites, CGs, Backgrounds, Other

Playable/Unplayable- the state of which the route is in the game/current build.

Ramón: 98% completed. Playable. Voiced. Some assets need finalization.

Kalei: 95% completed. Playable. Some voice needs mastering. Some voice is unimplemented. Some assets need finalization.

Mitts: 100% completed. Playable. Voiced.

Rosita: 90% competed. Playable. All voice needs mastering. Some assets need finalization.

DJ Roadkill: 90% completed. Playable.  All voice needs mastering. Some assets need finalization. Some additional writing needed.

Irene: 80% completed. Playable. Unvoiced. Voice needs recording. Some assets need finalization.

Noel: 50% completed. Final scripts for chapter 3 and endings need completion. Voice needs recording. Majority of assets are incomplete.

There's some UI stuff I need to finalize as well. Mainly the help menu and getting the unlocked cgs to display in the gallery which isn't difficult and am saving for after I've finalized all the routes.

As you can see everyone besides Noel is playable in the current development. KS and certain tiered Patreon supporters have access to that current build of the game and have reported back positive feedback on the game. A cult has also formed in honor of DJ Roadkill as well lol!

Now to provide a release date… I think it would be safest to say before the year is over.

That feels a bit vague and might make people unhappy to hear since this the third time I've pushed back the release. But have pity on me, besides a few people helping me on some ends, I'm practically creating this game all by myself. From writing, coding, sprites, CGs, art, directing, managing, social media promotion, scene play, animation, playtesting, audio compiling/(and recently) editing I've been doing on my own. And the game suffered a massive loss taking over a year to develop the current demo only to be scrapped and start from scratch in renpy during march/april. It feels like actual game development started this year and I had to learn how to program ASAP just to get where I am now.

Apologies to those who were excited to play Part 1 in its entirety this month, I was too! It was going to be my birthday present to myself!! Haha… maybe it'll be a Christmas present instead.

But yes, the game is coming soon! And it will come before the year ends. I just need more time to finish and polish everything so that it's an enjoyable and whole experience.

Hi, I just wanted to say you've been doing a grate job and i understand how hard it is to compleate a project basicaly all by your self. I'm not expireinced in game making but i have started to make a game in ren'py for fun i'm not even releasing it and i now have a new found respect for VN creators. Also i do just want to say that genuinly you can take as long as you need and don't push yourself to hard, as someone who has expirienced how  easily you can push just a little to hard and compleatly colaps. It just sets everything back more so make sure your resting enough, eating regularly and not putting all your focus into just the game. No matter how much presure you feel make sure you are ok first.

I know things can get pretty difficult in life, but I hope you overcome them! Please, feel no pressure! I started playing this game in early July and I just want to tell you how much I like LOVE it!!!

I was honestly excited to see a notification from here, thinking it was the release of the game but after what I had read here, I completely understand and will be ready to play Repurpose (I honestly can't wait to go on a full date with Ramón and Kalei, curse you bisexuality-)
